I was shocked to find it was Knight Rider’s 40th-anniversary last month. That made me feel old. I grew up on Knight Rider, loving the concept of KITT the Knight Industries Two Thousand, an AI car that could drive and talk. And of course, David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight. A man who can make a difference.
So in homage to KITT’s 40th birthday I thought I would reproduce the scanner effect, eight LEDs rippling backwards and forwards across the bonnet, on a small scale with a Raspberry PI Pico. Use that also as an opportunity to explore different approaches to multitasking.
The code repo for the project can be found on GitHub.
If you are new to connecting LEDs to the Pico and want to know how this works, how to calculate the value of the resistor or see more animation examples please do look at my course “Raspberry PI PICO Micro Projects (C++)” on the Udemy platform.
For more on using FreeRTOS Tasks please do look at my course “FreeRTOS on Raspberry PI PICO” on the Udemy platform.
